We’re all creatures of habits, and oftentimes this works much to our disadvantage. You may suppose this will turn out to be one of my rants against technologically inept people, but this time around I must recognize I’ve fallen victim to the status quo. You see, earlier this afternoon I met with some old high school friends, one of whom told us how she was excited about enrolling this new cutting edge online nursing degree. My first reaction was quite straightforward and natural, spurting forth as a reflex: “oh, that’s all a bunch of crap”.

Following this statement, everyone just stood there wide-eyed until finally someone broke the silence: “how can you say something like that? you were supposed to be the tech geek and you’re saying you don’t believe in distance learning? Despite all the evidence proving just how effective those new programs can be?” And effectively, I must admit I was out of character when I said that – I was probably irritated with something entirely different, and that comment just spurted out. Well, truth of the matter is that getting a distance learning degree in nowadays indeed a great alternative to regular learning institutions.

There’s a wide selection of worldwide online learning establishments which are fully accredited, some some of those actually operate on a hybrid model – mixing traditional learning tools with the new media. I’ve been doing some research, and it seems it’s even possible to get an actual matter-of-fact online phd… and that’s something I might actually think about doing. However, I should say I learned an important lesson today: sometimes you’ll think you’re a hip and open-minded person, and you’re actually quite resistant to change. Think about it, maybe you’ll realize this is something you also do on occasion… I think it’s only human, after all!

The Internet is just one of those things that grows on people, an soon enough it’s all over the place. Have you ever paused to consider this? Nowadays, you can do pretty much everything over the Internet… and then some. I’m not just talking about stuff you might be familiar with, such as shopping or dating – for example, did you know there’s a growing elearning industry out there on the vast cyberspace markets?

It might come as a surprise that you can sign up for a wide range of online training courses over the Internet, many of which are accredited both in the online and offline realities. for example, I was checking out this website specializing in e-learning, and I must say I’m impressed with the variety of courses available. Also, it goes without saying just how advantageous it can be choosing to enroll online learning: you get to choose your schedules, study at your own pace, and all the while you’ll get as much support as you would on a regular school or college.

If you’ve been thinking about finishing your education or getting specialized formation within a specific area of interest and you’ve been holding back for lack of time, you might want to think about choosing online education!
